An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Last Plan Standing

(Proverbs 19:21 KJV)  There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.

I have heard that rocks can actually grow in your garden.  There is something about the ground heating and cooling that causes expansion and contraction.  Through a long process the smaller particles can settle under the bigger stones and actually work them toward the surface.  They rise to prominence, or in the word used here they “stand” (6965).  The word means to arise or stand up.

We can make all kinds of plans and work all kind of schemes.  They will eventually fail if they are laid out in conflict with the standards of God.  On the other hand, obedience will cause long term victory.

So?  Do you want a short term feel good or a long term success?  God will not be mocked.  Why not work on doing it His way?
