An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

The Con Man

(Proverbs 21:19 KJV)  It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.

How can a verse like this effect today?  It isn’t realistic to leave a spouse and move to the desert.  I don’t think nagging is grounds for divorce, at least not according to Jesus.  We can pray for our wives and for each other.  Good, but what about today.

Today we need to look at ourselves.  Have you been guilty of being “contentious” (4066)?  Was it yesterday?  How about this morning?  What does the afternoon look like?  Do I need to come over there and ask your children?  When we get too consumed with our own feelings and importance we become very hard to live with.  I don’t, but you do.  Right.

So?  What taste do you leave in someone’s mouth when you walk away?  Would they come back for a second helping?  Don’t be the nag in the relationship.
