An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Read with Gestalt

(Psa 108:1 KJV)  A Song or Psalm of David. O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory.

(Proverbs 20 also read)

Keep in mind that one part of scripture can illuminate other verses.  One of the times that stands out in my mind is when Moses was talking to God and asking for a special privilege.

(Exo 33:18 KJV)  And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.
Guy told him that was not going to happen.
(Exo 33:20 KJV)  And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.
This stood out to me because I saw the word in one place and it stirred in memory of another place. Other translations show in a bit of illumination.
Psalms 108:1 (CSB) My heart is confident, God; I will sing; I will sing praises with the whole of my being.
God’s glory involves His whole being.

So? Read with your mind turned on. Look for understanding of one scripture to be given to you in another. What an adventure.

Contact

(Exo 33:11 KJV)  And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.

I don’t expect to ever make contact with God face-to-face in this life.  I do meet with Him regularly.  How would I describe that?  I might describe it as meeting Him heart to heart, or mind to mind, or with creation in mind, I might consider it as image to Imager.  The important thing is we meet daily, or as daily as I can keep it.

It is also important to think of meeting Him as a friend to friend.  I do not want to be presumptuous, but that seems to be the terminologies used here.  I hope it’s never an arrogant assumption.

So? I find the words of that song come in my mind, which goes, “reach out to Jesus, He’s reaching out to you.”  You can count on it.

You Can’t Be a Know It All

(Proverbs 25:2 KJV)  It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.

Why would God “conceal” (5641) things from us?  We need to understand that there is no Cosmic Freedom of Information Act.  Even in the federal law there are exemptions for national security.  One of the items covered when I was in the Army was that you not only needed the right security clearance but you must demonstrate a “need to know.”  There is much that we don’t need to know.

He conceals His glory.  Remember when Moses asked to see God’s glory.
(Exodus 33:18 KJV)  And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.
But to see God’s glory would mean death.
(Exodus 33:20 KJV)  And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.
Think of other things that God conceals.  God conceals the moment of our death.  God conceals the reason for our suffering.  He conceals the sex of our children before birth.

So?  Part of the walk of faith is not knowing.  We can seek.  We can ask.  Ultimately we must trust Him as God.  Today you will probably face this.  Walk in glory.
