An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Spiritual Selfies

(Proverbs 18:2 KJV)  A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.

I wonder if there is a Hebrew word for “narcissism”?  I did a quick word search in the KJV and NASB with no hits.  The concept is certainly examined here.

We also see how some ideas are never new.  Today we talk about “self-esteem” and “self-actualization” and a whole host of other “self” words.  We are totally infatuated with feelings as long as they are our feelings.  This seems to be the formula for fools.

So?  Be the one eyed man in a world of the blind.  Jesus directs us to get concerned for others rather than ourselves.  He modeled it.  He expects it.  Step up to the plate.
