An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Little White Abominations

(Proverbs 20:23 KJV)  Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good.

Christian culture is different than any other.  We have this idea of absolute truth and objective right and wrong.  That is one reason why God is concerned about simple things like honest scales when it comes to business.  This is not negotiable.  It is not an option.  Honesty and integrity are at the core of righteous people who serve a holy God.

There is honest and there is “false” (4820).  Another translation is “deceit”.  Perhaps that will give you a better understanding.  “False” might not be strong enough for you.  Deceit goes better with “abomination” (8441).  False sounds more like “little white lies.”

So.  Take the high road.  God knows the truth and He is the ultimate judge.  This applies to every bit of negotiation you are involved in today.
