An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Hell to Pay

(Pro 8:32 KJV)  Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.

What a simple statement.  Obedience makes you “blessed” (835).  It would be logical to accept that the inverse also applies.  If you do not “keep” (8104) God’s commandments there will be “Hell to pay.”

Christians are saved and live under grace and by faith.  That is a given.  At the same time obedience is not an option.  However you work it out, in whatever way you want to understand it, we are expected to live righteous lives.  We are earning nothing.  You don’t make yourself healthy by washing your hands, you avoid disease.

So?  Don’t fall into theological traps or rationalizations.  Live an upright life.  It makes a difference.
