An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Double Speak

(Pro 18:4 KJV)  The words of a man's mouth are as deep waters, and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook.

We see reference to two kinds of speech.  The second is clearly labeled as good but the first is open to interpretation.  Today I assume that they are contrasts and spent some time thinking about that.  How can you tell the difference between wise words and wicked propaganda?  At times the difference may be so subtle that we can’t easily discern which is right.  The key is in remembering that the beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord.  That means being aware of who God is and what He expects of us as revealed in His word.  Every concept and statement must be measured that way.

Beware of the comfortable understanding.  Too often I hear what I want to hear.  I actually get the words right but my way of putting it together fits more into where I want to go than what God is trying to convey.

So?  Go for wisdom.  Lay the foundation.  Make the decisions.
