An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Rock Thinking

(Pro 19:21 KJV)  There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.

There are times when the technique called “brainstorming” seems really foolish.  There are times when the follow up and evaluation may bring some dreamers down to earth.  There is a lot of potential in using your imagination and creativity.  The key is in having it grounded.

I really enjoy talking the Bible and what it says and means.  When I get to certain points I will try to point out that what I am sharing is speculation, not doctrine.  There is a difference.  We need to be careful about demanding that others conform to our personal preferences or flights of fancy.  At the same time there are certain realities that are non-negotiable.  Eschatology is open to a lot of interpretations.  I am sorry if you have it all worked out but others disagree with you.  The physical resurrection of Christ is set in stone.

So?  Dream.  Speculate.  Be creative.  Keep your feet on the Rock.
