An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Division of Labor

(Pro 28:5 KJV)  Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.

Evangelism is ultimately the job of the Holy Spirit.  We are called on to witness and to make a defense of the hope that is in us.  We are not expected to argue people into the kingdom.  Unless hearts and minds are conditioned and led by God Himself our evangelism programs are exercises in futility.  We might as well be talking honesty to a reporter or politician.

What are the steps the Spirit goes through to bring people to repentance?  I don’t have a clue but I have seen people who are ready and even more who have eyes that glaze over at the mention of anything spiritual.

So?  We need to keep witnessing.  Go ahead and leave a tract at the restaurant but make sure that you leave a big tip to go along with it.  I think the Holy Spirit finds people more receptive when we have lived our righteousness in front of them.
