An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Mourning After

(Pro 30:16 KJV)  The grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not filled with water; and the fire that saith not, It is enough.

You cannot read the Bible with your mind engaged and not see that the standards of the Bible are different than our surrounding culture.  You cannot read what our cultural leaders have to say without realizing that they are at war with God.  Many of the elites are calling for a reduction in population.  Big families are frowned on at social gatherings.  At the same time the term “childless couple” is expressed in the Bible as “barren” (6115) “womb” (7358).  Being childless is not something to celebrate, but to mourn.

The church is to be different from the world.  The Greek for church means “called out ones.”  We are called to make choices and those choices will often put us at odds with our neighbors, fellow workers and even the person in the pew next to us.

So?  Be prepared for rejection if you follow Jesus.  If it doesn’t come either rejoice or question your witness.  If it comes then rejoice but make sure you are criticized for the right reasons.
