An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Antics

(Pro 6:7 KJV)  Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,

I know a lot more about bees than I do ants.  I am guessing that most people are that way.  Bees are creatures that leave you alone if you leave them alone and while they are ignoring you they go about keeping the world going.  They pollinate and make much of our pleasure foods possible.  Ants seem to be mainly pests.  They are scavengers in the same business as shrimp, vultures and fungus.

Most of us would be insulted if we were told to be like ants, or we would if we thought about it.  It is disgusting to find ants in your kitchen.  We have fire ants that have been known to attack and kill people if they aren’t paying attention.  Remember the red ants of your childhood.  And yet in all of that they have a role to play and it is played because they are focused on their calling.

So?  We are called.  We are given gifts.  We have the Holy Spirit and the word of God.  In many of the areas of our lives we don’t need someone telling us what to do.  When was the last time you saw an ant asking you what he should do next?  I need to do the things I know about and allow God to tell me what comes next in His time.
