An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Using Ritual

(Psa 123:2 KJV)  Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until that he have mercy upon us.

(Proverbs 16 also read)

This comes right after a verse calling upon us to lift up our eyes to look at the God of our salvation.  Here it is giving earthly examples of security and hope.  As I look out the window at the kindling of morning I am reminded that God is meeting me for another day.

Morning worship is such a blessing.  Recently on a trip I was not able to spend my normal ration of time but I still squeezed in a few minutes, and God met me.  He did not get legalistic and pound me down because I did not meet my minimum threshold.  He gave more grace because He knew the desire of my heart.  And I am able to thrive on that because I know the nature of His heart.

So?  Don’t go all ritual.  Use ritual and routine to reinforce, not to condemn.  Rejoice with Him and He will rejoice with you.
