An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Work Hard and Prosper

(Pro 27:18 KJV)  Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.

One of the cultural standards that has developed from the influence of the Old and New Testaments is the dignity of the common man.  All through the scripture we see God’s concern for the poor and oppressed.  We also see in verses like this that there is a dignity and honor in hard work.  The snob does not belong in the house of God.

So?  Work hard.  Stand tall.  Remember that Paul was a tent maker and Jesus was referred to as a carpenter.  They were not known as political leaders or moguls of commerce.  That is our example.  (Posted, June 27, 2023, PP)
