An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Glassy Eyed

(Pro 24:7 KJV)  Wisdom is too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.

It might be a good idea for us to broaden our understanding of what a “fool” (191) is.  Our default understanding involves someone who cannot make good decisions and fails because of ignorance or sloth.  The word includes these but it is my wider.  A fool is really anyone who does not have wisdom.  Since the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom then anyone who does not embrace almighty God is by definition a fool.

You run into them all the time.  One good way to determine if someone is a fool is to start speaking about spiritual things.  It is amazing how often their eyes glaze over, they get a distracted look and start searching the immediate area for a reason to excuse themselves.

So?  Try it.  It is true you may find someone who will engage but that just means they might actually be seeking truth.
