An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Targets

(Pro 31:10 KJV)  Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

Notice the question being asked.  It might be considered poetical or rhetorical.  When I consider all the qualities he lists I am afraid it is a genuine question and if you look at the advice of his mother in verse 3, you can almost assume the answer is “No one.”

Beware the perfect.  Often in life the best is not available.  We are forced to do with better.  In life it might be that better is best.  One lesson we can get from this passage is to make sure that our measuring stick is based on virtue and righteousness.  The woman described here is not only great in so many areas, she is pure and clean in the ones involving ethics.

So?  Be the best.  Live to the highest.  Those marks may vary a bit from person to person but for you the goal is the same.
