An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Limitation of Friendship

(Pro 25:18 Brenton)  As a club, and a dagger, and a pointed arrow, so also is a man who bears false witness against his friend.

One of the misconceptions we have about friendship is that we are always loyal above all else.  It is inferred here that some people think it would be acceptable to go to court and lie if it was to the advantage of a friend.  This makes it clear that we are not to do that.

Honesty and truth are bedrock in a culture that wants to survive and be healthy.  Even if you are alive during a time when integrity seems to have taken a vacation, you are to maintain upright behavior.  That means applying the Commandment against lying.

So?  First, it is vital to your spiritual destiny.  Second, it is necessary for your personal world.  Finally, you may be the salt that stops the wrathful hand of God so that others might be saved.
