An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Fossil Treatment

(Psa 60:12 KJV)  Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.

(Proverbs 5 also read)

The previous verse is about grace and dependence.  This verse is about grace in action, or you might say the grace of obedience.  Some would see the “do” (6213a) and say, “Aha!  The Law!  Works!  We are saved by works, not the Law.”  What they miss is the “through God” at the beginning of the verse.  Is that deliberate, accidental or because of fossilized theology?

This is the beautiful fullness of the good news.  God points out that we can’t do it alone and then quickly says that we can do it with Him.

So?  Always read the next verse.  All of us tend to focus on what the gurus tell us to focus on and because of that we miss the whole truth.  Let the Holy Spirit bring the fossils to life.
