An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Today Way

(Pro 7:27 Brenton)  Her house is the way of hell, leading down to the chambers of death.

The Brenton translation had an interesting way of putting this verse.  Instead of the way “to” hell we read the way “of” hell.  I am not sure that it is more accurate but it certainly brings out a reality.  We are so used to seeing things and taking them at face value.  I sometimes see an advertisement for a certain brand of beer and it is full of people who are laughing, smiling, talking and generally having a great time.  It looks very inviting and makes me want to have a part of it, or at least that is the purpose.

What it does not tell you is how desperate they are to be accepted and the loneliness that drives them to that gathering.  It doesn’t point out that they can’t afford to be there or let you know what diseases are eating up their insides.  I guess the picture could be as portrayed but I doubt it.

So?  Do you want your life to be an advertisement for a beer company or filled with the inner assurance that you are on God’s eternal team?  The good news is that it is your choice.  The bad news is you have to chose.
