An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Sin, Seriously

(Pro 14:9 KJV)  Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.

And the word for the day is...,drum roll, please,... “sin” (817).  I didn’t expect you to like it.  I would guess that many of you have not heard this word in a long time, at least not as the Bible uses it.  This word for sin has the idea of guilt.  It refers to the residual effect of disobedience and rebellion against God.  We need to understand there are consequences both short, long term and eternal.

So?  Take sin seriously.  Don’t get into the camouflage of a hard childhood or poverty.  They exist but they won’t do for excuses when we stand before the judgement seat.
