An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Children Anyone?

(Pro 30:17 KJV)  The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.

This is a verse that causes me pain.  It isn’t my children but the children of other people.  I know them and so do you.  Perhaps you experience it.  The children are often subtle in how they belittle parents.  There are many ways to pat a parent on the head without being obvious.  With the watering down of the Bible in our churches it is getting more and more common for children to be condescending toward their parents’ faith and practice.

It is going to happen.  It may be too late to prevent it but it is never too late to begin changing what contribution you may have made.  Make sure you are genuine and faithful.  Be consistent.  Read I
Corinthians 13 and focus on things like not being provoked.  If may be that their love fails but don’t let yours.

So?  Your kids don’t have to straighten up before you die, just before they do.  Not very uplifting but sometimes it is all we have to cling to.
