An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Being Alone with Stupid

(Pro 26:8 KJV)  As he that bindeth a stone in a sling, so is he that giveth honour to a fool.

One of the questions I have when interpreting the parables of Jesus is, “Did He see this or did He make it up to get across a point?”  It probably doesn’t make any difference in the point of the parable.  We run across that question in this series of Proverbs.  Did Solomon actually see someone do this or was he just being creative?

Think about some of the stupid things you have seem people do.  Even better, think of some of the dumb actions you have demonstrated.  We are surrounded by people who refuse to think.  That would be okay if they were peasants in the middle ages and what they thought didn’t have much influence.  Today we are looking at people in positions of responsibility, leaders and a lot of voters who basically bind the stone in their sling.

So?  Don’t be one of them.  Turn your mind back on.  Read something that can get the juices flowing.  Make part of the reading the word of God.  Be careful whom you honor.
