An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

At the Point

(Pro 23:12 KJV)  Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge.

This is for you.  Yes, you.  Okay.  This is for me.  I am at a point in life where I am not invested in gaining new knowledge or skills.  That makes me hard to live with at times.  It also can make me a pain in the neck at church.  What does the pastor have to say that I could possibly need to hear?  Maybe a sermon on pride and arrogance would come in handy.

I gave up looking for the perfect church and found one that meets what is really important.  Part of my place is to listen and be open to what the Holy Spirit might want to say to me.  It may not correspond with the words but it can still reach the heart and mind.

So?  Get in the habit of listening with both your ears and your spirit.  If you are at church listen with your Bible open.
