An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Watch the Response

(Proverbs 6:34 KJV)  For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.

Obviously “jealousy” (7068) is not something that should be a part of our lives but this is a different kind of warning.  This is a caution about causing jealousy in other people.  The immediate context is adultery.  The rage it can cause seems to be beyond forgiveness.  Think about other possibilities.  Maybe athletic prowess would cause it.  Maybe success in business could be a problem.  It might even be something you have no control over.

This is why things like patience, turning the other cheek, not being provoked and such are so important to the Christian character.  Of course you might provoke jealousy in the church but that is their spiritual problem.

So?  Don’t be surprised when people turn on you.  Keep on course.
