An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

The Power of Proverbs

(Proverbs 2:12 KJV)  To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;

One of the promises of wisdom is deliverance.  We are surrounded by reasons to fear and walk with caution.  Blogs I read about preparedness talk about being alert.  I am trying to train myself to keep a roving eye when I walk across a parking lot.  I try to avoid those parking lots late at night.  That is one way wisdom can protect us.

One of the safety features of life is that those looking to commit evil tend to be lazy and risk averse.  They will take the easiest route.  Your dog might not keep out a determined thief but if you neighbor doesn’t have a dog, he is an easier target.  Guess which one gets picked.  When we walk with wisdom certain types will just avoid us.

It also keeps me safer if I am walking with a group.  In our lives that can be the church if the church is being the church.  It can be the fellowship lifting you up in prayer.  We also need to be aware that angels exist and you don’t need to see them to understand that they have your back.  When you walk with confidence you are also avoided by the nefarious, or as the KJV calls them, the froward.

So?  It makes a difference living God’s way.  It really does.  As they say in Spanish, vaya con Dios.
