An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Do You Cheat at Monopoly?

(Proverbs 22:20 KJV)  Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge,

This is a glorious promise.  God is offering us “excellent” (7991c) resources for our life.  It starts with a foundation of principles and standards that are designed by the Maker to make the life of the obedient rich and rewarding.  Of course, if you are not reading the owners’ manual you don’t know what those principles are.  If you don’t know the rules we can never win the game.

Think about giving someone a Monopoly board with all the pieces and no rules.  What you come up with would not do you much good.  We have all played with people who keep trying to change the rules.  It is a hollow victory.

So?  Spend some time reading a part of the Bible you have not read in awhile.  Spend some time thinking about what you can remember.  Act on it.
