An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Fools Endorse Fools

(Proverbs 26:8 KJV)  As he that bindeth a stone in a sling, so is he that giveth honour to a fool.

You might think this is a bit extreme but I have seen this level of intelligence.  I could tell you about the kid’s uncle who shot himself while cleaning his gun...three different times.  I had repeated conversations with students who tell me they want to improve their grade and yet continue to bring no tools or do any work.  It would be funny if it were not tragic.

The word to us is that we need to learn not to give credibility to people like this.  If people  demonstrate that they are a fools, they should not have our support.  When we endorse fools, it makes us fools.

So?  Don’t be afraid to be discerning.  If you have the gift of mercy and a little discernment then learn to trust the insight of the one who has that gift.
