An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

How Are You Smelling?

(Proverbs 11:20 KJV)  They that are of a froward heart are abomination to the LORD: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.

What does it mean to be an “abomination” (8441)?  As with most serious words, we have watered down its meaning by things like the “abominable snowman”.  The idea in the Bible is something that is so offensive that it drives us away.

Have you ever had an animal die in the walls of your house or under the insulation in your attic?  The smell permeates everything and takes forever to dissipate.  It can get so bad that it makes you feel sick.  That is what smells can do.  That is what perverted lives are like to the Lord, abominable.  That is the bad news.

The good new is,
(Romans 5:8 KJV)  But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
So?  How are you smelling to God?  What kind of bouquet does your life lift up?
