(Pro 18:12 KJV) Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.
I sense another both/and reading. I find myself wondering if the destruction in the first part of the verse is the source of the humility or is humility something we can achieve without total disaster. It is clear that humility comes before honor but what is the means?
I like to think that the Holy Spirit can bring about humility. It is hard to measure because part of the problem is that thinking we are humble is often a sign of a lack.
Followers of Jesus are expected to put others first. Even that is to be done with the right attitude. It can be achieved.
So? If you are learning the hard way, embrace the lesson and grow on. If you are blessed enough to grow without the pain then give God the praise.

An Idea Borrowed
Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.
