An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Action vs Knowledge

Proverbs 2:11 (KJV) Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

Earlier in the chapter we read about discernment.  Now the narrative switches to “discretion”.  This is a maturing of the message.  Discernment is a mental process.  You look at the facts and carefully analyze what you see.  You come to a conclusion.  This is where discretion comes in.

There is a saying about things like atomic energy and AI:  “Just because you can doesn’t mean that you should.”  What applies to technology also applies to our actions each day.

So?  As usual, start with the foundational truth, think and pray, and finally act based on what has gone before.  Too often we act and then pick ourselves up.
