An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Be a Holy Rivulet

(Pro 11:11 KJV)  By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.

A straight reading of this verse seems to infer a type of prayer that we would call a blessing.  The mouth is involved.  I think there is a less obvious principle here and that is that our way of living makes the difference.

We are supposed to be a blessing by our very presence.  Of course that doesn’t mean much unless our presence reflects the holiness of God.  The way in which we do business reflects on our God.  The way we keep our property clean and orderly says something to people around us.  The behavior of our children is observed.

So?  Be a blessing.  Our cities need it.  Our country needs it.  You may only be a drop of water or a rivulet in a drain but it all comes together to fill the reservoir or cause a flash flood.
