Psalm 1:1 (KJV) Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
(Proverbs 26, also read)
Just as the Bible has many synonyms for the Law it also has them for evil. We see three of them in this verse. In this time before the crucifixion there was still a dividing line between saints and sinners. You could tell who was on God’s side and sought to walk in righteousness.
That leads us to the ability to make decisions about whom we spend our time with. Notice there are also three images of how we spend our day.
So? No matter what you are doing you have the responsibility to pick your companions carefully.

An Idea Borrowed
Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Something Wicked This Way Comes

Most of the time I think I comment off topic. I have been looking at my set of friends. The person who calls/texts me the most is the person who I should have the least in common with spiritually, politically, and culturally but we talk about aliens, bonded over our shared crazy work experience, and seem to give each other mental support. It is a strange thing. Oddly, I have found him to be more reinforcing of my Christian beliefs than fellow believers during the last few extremely stressful years. This is not a replacement for true fellowship with real believers but I keep finding myself with frustrated Christians, weird outcast types, bitter ex-believers, borderline alcoholics, and the like. I don't know if I am helping or hurting the cause. I think I need to find a Church home. Not sure I am qualified to start one.
When I was in high school and still not a genuine Christian I had a friend like that. It was a glorious time and molded much of my adult personality. It didn't matter what I said, he would take the other side and argue me into the ground. Since we were walking to school, about a mile and a half, we had lots of time to argue. I think it was that sharpening of my ability to reason that led me to get serious about faith in Christ. He was an atheist until he died but his influence lived on.
So often fellow believers don't like to risk thinking and it makes it hard to talk about issues that seem important.
I would encourage you to find a church. Give up finding the perfect one. There may be someone out there that needs your influence.
Grace and peace
