An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Be Not Conformed

Psalm 127:4 (KJV) As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

(Proverbs 4 also read)

My mind is focused on preparing a sermon based on Romans 12:2 which starts off, “Be ye not conformed to the world…”. As I read this today in my normal routine it jumped out at me that one place where we see Christians conforming is in the area of having children.

Our culture has been going through a time when Satan was lying to us about the world becoming overpopulated. Just like the circular lies about climate change that mantra is now being rewritten to be panic about the falling birth rate. When I look at my generation it is shocking how many either have no children or only two. Obviously that is sometimes just the natural way things worked out but the consistency reflects an acceptance of the world’s values more than providence.

So? Beware of the leaven of the world. On this issue the Bible is clear. It is also clear on many other issues. Consult the owners manual for daily maintenance.
