An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

A Blessed Law

(Pro 31:26 KJV)  She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

We have a reference here to the “law” (teaching NASB) (8451) [torah].  This is the same concept that Paul spends so much time attacking.  Here the word is linked to “kindness” (2617a) [chesed].  This should point out to us that there are different forms of law, or teaching, and many of them are blessed.

In our culture we have different kinds of law.  We have the laws of nature such as gravity.  You ignore them to your peril.  We have traffic laws which you can sometimes get away with breaking.  We have the Constitution which seems to be open to manipulation in our modern society.

So?  Observe the laws.  There is a penalty for ignoring them.  At the same time realize that our access to salvation is not through keeping the law but through trusting in Jesus to pay for our sins.
