An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Cross Reference

(Pro 12:20 KJV)  Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy.

Every time I start adjusting to the KJV I come across a verse like this.  When I read this verse and saw the word “imagine” (2790a) I linked it to the idea of the imagination, something that takes place in our minds but have little chance of happening.  It was kind of like a trip to Evil Land at Disneyland.  Somehow that didn’t set right with me so I compared the NASB and looked in my references for the Hebrew word.  The NASB has “devise”.  That is more along the lines of the thought.

This is the active planning and implementation of wickedness.  It isn’t just a creative imagination.  It is a committed action.

So?  Again, as I have said before, there are people in the world committed to evil.  Also it is important for us to read different translations so that we can get closer to the truth God has for us.
