An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Do You Want an Answer?

(Psa 91:15 KJV)  He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.

(Proverbs 22 also read)

We like the promises of God.  This chapter in Psalms is full of them.  Notice the condition that is laid out here.  We must “call” (7121) on God.  One of the important aspects of calling on someone is to make sure that they can here you.  My wife likes to talk to me when I am not in the room any more.  She wonders why I don’t hear her.  Go back and look at the first verse where it talks about dwelling in His shelter.

He will “answer” (6030a).  Make sure you are listening.

So?  What are you going to do with the answer.  That is the real question here.  It won’t do to get an answer from God that is conditional and to ignore the condition.  It won’t do any good to admire the results of a righteous life and refuse to live righteously.
