An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Shore up Your Corner

(Pro 23:26 KJV)  My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.

Today I started reading in this verse and it seemed to me that this was a word from the Lord about my relationship with Him.  By the time I finished reading the chapter I woke up to the fact that this is Solomon talking to his son.  What does it have to say to us today?

It speaks of family relationships.  Specifically this is between father and son.  I would assume that the same principle involves mothers and daughters and that there is a crossover.  It goes against what our culture is telling us.  You may not be reading books to your grandchildren.  You may not have read a lot to your children.  I noticed it way back then.  There is a definite message sent by modern literature.  Fathers are fools.  Don’t pay any attention to them.  At least be ready to bail them out when they mess up.

So?  Realize how our culture is trying to destroy the family.  Make it a principle to build the family up.  As a parent, set the example.  As a child, follow the example.  The world around you may be crashing and burning but that does not mean you must join them.
