An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

 Bored to Death

(Act 20:9 KJV)  And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.

(Proverbs 17 also read)

And you thought last Sunday’s sermon was boring?  Imagine how Paul felt.  I would imagine that the excitement cut in just when he was getting to the key point in his sermon.  It is funny how that works.  Next time you are a bit upset with the pastor’s preaching remember that you could have been listening to Paul while sitting in a third floor window.

If you are the pastor or related to one keep in mind that people also seemed to complain about the apostle Paul.  Even Jesus had a problem getting His disciples to listen and take notes.

So?  It is up to us whether we get anything out of a sermon, lesson or book.  This is not the place to pass the buck.
