An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

 Seeing Through the Towel

(Pro 21:24 KJV)  Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.

How often do we try to hide behind synonyms?  Sin can be labeled many ways that are used to cover up the gravity of rebellion against God.  Selfishness can be called stewardship.  You know the pattern.  The point is that a happy synonym does not take away the pain of the moment.  The games we play with toddlers come to mind.  It is fun to cover a kids head with a towel and start saying, “Where is Rufus?”  That assumes of course that the child is named Rufus.  I have not yet figured out if Rufus knows you see him but is having fun or actually has not put the picture together.

Here the issue is basically pride.  It might be many other areas.  God has put the picture together.

So?  Be honest with yourself.  That is often the first step toward being honest with God and those people around you.
