An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

More Than Rodney

(Pro 15:33 KJV)  The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.

I am reminded that I tend to get too casual about my attitude toward God.  We are quick to point out that “fear” (3374) can mean reverence, awe and respect.  We get comfortable with that and forget how Isaiah responded when he saw the Lord seated on His throne.  He figured he was going to die.  Maybe it would be better if we could catch a little of that side of awe.  Perhaps instead of standing overlooking the Grand Canyon and being awed by its beauty we need to step up to the edge, lean over and look straight down.  That brings different meaning to awesome.

So?  Don’t make God do His Rodney Dangerfield impersonation.  He demands respect.
