An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Go High

(Pro 16:17 KJV)  The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.

In looking at the mention of “highways” (4546) in the Bible I noticed that there is at least one other Hebrew word used.  In the definitions the main difference I could see was that this a climbing process and well made roads while the other implied that they were also well used.  I don’t know if it is really in the meaning of the words but it is an interesting difference.

This verse is literally talking about a way that is high.  It is telling us that if we want to walk with Almighty God then we are expected to make choices that take us to moral heights, not common convenience.  This is the road Robert Frost should have been referring to,

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

So?  Life is full of choices and they make a difference.
