An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Not So Gentle Reminder

(Pro 7:24 KJV)  Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.

This sounds like a gentle reminder of something important.  Except for the “gentle” that is true.  There is a phrase that could be added at the end to get across the point:  Or else.  If you read the context, this reminder is in the real threat of personal death and destruction.

There is a reason why it is vital to follow God’s standards.  There is a reason why America has been blessed even though most people are not serious about trusting and following Jesus.  That is because on the whole our laws and standards are based on those found in the Bible.

So?  As we watch our culture composting and our leaders polluting the land we need to remember that there are unbending standards of right and wrong.  We need to remember that we ignore them at our peril and remind those we come in contact with that God is not on vacation.
