Psalm 46:5 (KJV) God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.
(Proverbs 26 also read)
This verse is referring to Jerusalem, Zion. It’s in the middle of a great passage that we all love to quote. As you can see, this seems to be a promise that desire will be eternal. Recently, I read another passage where God basically said that He was going to do away with Zion. This brings to mine that old question, “Can God make a rock big enough that He can’t move it?”
We see these kinds of things fairly frequently. Of course in things like this much of the answer is that figurative language is not to be taken literally. The other side of that is that literal statements are not to be taken figuratively. We love to do both. When we read scripture, we need to ask the Holy Spirit to make it clear to us if it is speaking figuratively or literally. Sometimes it can be taken both ways. Sometimes we are allowed to spiritualize it for applications to us today.
So? Read and study. Keep your mind open to what God has to say to you. Be honest in your application. The rewards are not only great, they are eternal.

An Idea Borrowed
Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.
