An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

The Pay-Off

Psalm 19:11 (KJV) Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.

(Proverbs 13 also read)

As I continue to say, the Law gets a bum rap.  We hear legalism condemned.  Paul has a constant rant about the Law.  We hear about the 613 that can’t be kept.  The Law gets a lot of bad press.  That is to our detriment.

We cannot be saved by the Law, true, but even in the OT that is the case.  The point of the Law was not salvation but teaching people how to live like civilized citizens of God’s kingdom.  Those principles are still very effective when used for their intended purpose.  For most people it is like trying to use a wrench to hammer a nail or, even worse, using a hammer to remove a nut.

So?  The Law is a tool.  As this says, following God’s rules has a reward.  It is there waiting for you.
