An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Gender Wars

(Pro 7:4 KJV)  Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:

Have you ever met or listened to a garden variety pagan who was waxing strong against the Bible being a patriarchal anachronism?  While it is true that men are usually in leadership it is also true that the Bible gives women a place of honor.  Here we see wisdom and understanding personified as female.  If you read other places you will find that women served as prophets and judges.  In history the women of Israel had less restrictions than cultures around them.

So?  Try not to get hung up on the latest meme of our culture.  Listen.  Be polite.  Show restraint.  Then go and see what God says before you get on board.  You will often find yourself traveling a lonely path but at least it will be a path that goes someplace.
