An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Bear Scare

(Pro 17:12 KJV)  Let a bear robbed of her whelps meet a man, rather than a fool in his folly.

As I compared the KJV and the NASB I noticed a difference of emphasis.  The NASB seems like the natural understanding.  A man does not want to meet a mad bear.  But when you read the KJV it seems like the bear is doing the meeting and would want to avoid the fool.

What is there about fools that they should scare even a mad bear?  Are they that dangerous?  Read the whole passage and I think you would be forced to agree.  The damage done by fools cannot be measured, partly because we refuse to identify the fools.

So?  Don’t be a fool.  There is a lot of information in Proverbs to avoid that end.  Read and apply.  Act like the electronic device came with instructions for a reason.
