An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Eternal Learning Curve

(Pro 9:10 KJV)  The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

This verse touched my thinking again as I read it today.  I got to thinking about the “knowledge” (1847) of God.  In reality God is so far above us that to think we have any knowledge of Him is a bit presumptive.  When I see the phrase “everlasting to everlasting” or the concepts of Alpha and Omega I wilt in my limitations.  At the same time the Bible calls us to know this God of ours.  He reaches out to us and meets us where we are.  He builds on what He has given us.

We have one of the glorious paradoxes of the faith.  We have a God so above us that we can’t even begin to comprehend Him and yet He reaches out and offers us a knowledge of Him.  I think the technical terms are transcendence and immanence.

So?  You don’t understand the Bible?  Join the club, activate your subscription and get started on the eternal learning curve.
