An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

No, Not Today

(Pro 21:17 KJV)  He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.

There is no virtue in poverty.  There is no virtue in wealth.  Virtue can exist at either end of the economic scale and all points in between.  A man’s “loves” (157) determine if his life is one of virtue or sin.  Your love establishes priorities and generates enthusiasm.  It guides the daily choices and long term objects.

Where do you expect to be in 10 years?  What results will bring joy to your life?  What are you going to do today?  I imagine we put time and effort in what we really care about.

So?  Seriously look at what you are willing to do without and what you regard as necessary.  It has eternal consequences.
