An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Dross Filters

(Pro 15:31 KJV)  The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise.

This is much tougher than it should be.  I like to think that if Jesus sat down with me and gave me direction I would listen and obey.  That probably will not happen until after the rapture.  What do I do in between?  God has given us other sources of instruction.  The information we need is readily available.  The problem is in the ears and mind.  I am not sure I want to listen.

I have just gone through a tongue lashing.  It is easy to react instead of responding.  For me it is nature to reject things I don’t like.  To be honest, much of the criticism we receive is not deserved or at least is not honestly offered.  Our job is to cut through the hatred and coercion and find the truth underneath.

So?  I think that is my prayer today.  I want to be able to cut away the dross and get to the core that is worthwhile.  Help me, Lord.
