An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Keep Searching

(Pro 11:14 KJV)  Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

When I first read this verse in the NASB I thought it was one we are more familiar with,

(Pro 29:18 KJV)  Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
It turns out that it is a similar thought in a different verse.  This is one of the benefits and frustrations of Bible study.  You find that you need to keep reading to understand.  Sometimes that reading just makes it more difficult to be Biblical.  Other times it explains and enlightens.  At times like this it deepens understanding.

The “vision” (2377) of chapter 29 becomes the “guidance” (8458).  The perishing becomes a “fall” (5307).  The end result of a lack is bad news in both verses.  The visions we might think we are having need to be tempered with counsel.

So?  Truth is necessary and available.  Today is a good day to keep seeking.
