An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Always the Choices

(Pro 3:34 KJV)  Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.

How would you like to have God laugh at you?  I am not sure that God chuckling is a fair rendition of “scoffs” (3917b) but you might say He guffaws.  Either way, it is not a place that I would want to be.  God seems to take a similar action toward us that we take to Him.  If we reject Him, He rejects us.  If we reach out to Him, He meets us.

That is one reason to spend time each day in worship.  The praise and thanksgiving that are part of that deliberate act are the key to us being on the receiving end of “grace” (2580).  I know that is reading a bit into this verse but I still think that is the principle.  Yes, I know we cannot reach out to Him unless He enables us but unlike some of my brothers in Christ, I think that He enables each of us to respond.

So?  The choice is up to us.  We can have a rebellious, resentful heart or we can be aware of our desperate situation and reach out to Him.
